This eight-hour Introduction to Hyper-V course is designed for IT pPros who are experienced in virtualization (i.e., VMware, Citrix) but inwho need of learningto learn how to leverage Hyper-V to perform essential tasks in the Windows Server 2012 platform. This jJump sStart event will focus on Hyper-V infrastructure, networking, storage, management, and integration with Other System Center 2012 Components.
Instructors | Microsoft Senior Technical Evangelist Symon Perriman and Principal Program Manager Lead Jeff Woolsey will leverage a team-teaching approach to delivering an engaging, demo-rich, live learning experience.
Associated Certification(s) | Windows Server certifications; Private Cloud certificationAssociated Course(s) | Course 10324A: Implementing and Managing Microsoft Desktop Virtualization
After brief introductions and an overview of the agenda, Symon Perriman and Jeff Woolsey kick off the course with an information-packed introduction discussing the power of Microsoft Virtualization. This module covers Hyper-V History, Virtualization & the Private Cloud, Microsoft’s Cloud Vision and Microsoft Virtualization Solutions.
This important session covers key considerations regarding infrastructure and is essential for IT organizations exploring options with the Microsoft Virtualization Platform. Symon and Jeff focus on Server & Scale, Dynamic Memory, Software SKU Considerations, Configuration, Deployment & Planning Tools, Enabling Hyper-V, and Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012.
This module discusses networking topics as they relate to Hyper-V. Topics include Virtual Networks, Software Defined Networking, Hyper-V Extensible Switch, Network Teaming and Guest Network Load Balancing.
During this module, Symon and Jeff help students understand how to increase performance through Storage Considerations. They will cover topics like Creating VHDs, Storage options, iSCSI, Virtual Fibre Channel, MultiPath I/O (MPIO), Offloaded Data Transfer (ODX), Storage Virtualization with Spaces, and Hyper-V over SMB.
One of the strengths of Hyper-V is the variety of powerful and integrated management tools available to IT organizations. During this session, Symon and Jeff demonstrate Hyper-V Manager, Moving to Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V, creating virtual machines, Resource Pools, Operating System support, Cloning Virtual Machines, Management tools, Hyper-V snapshots, Windows PowerShell, Security, and RemoteFX.
During this key session, Symon and Jeff walk the audience though high-availability and redundancy with Hyper-V. They cover High Availability Planning, Cluster Deployment, Hyper-V Optimization on a Cluster, Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV) & Live Migration, and Hyper-V Replica.
In this module, students experience how Microsoft's tight integration between Hyper-V and System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) simplifies and empowers IT Pros (this session is totally updated for System Center 2012 SP1). Symon and Jeff will start with a great VMM Overview then transition to Deployment & Configuration, Service Templates, Clustering, and Monitoring & Management.
Each component of System Center 2012 SP1 is extremely powerful and provides key layers of control to IT organizations. This session walks through how Hyper-V integrates with App Controller, Configuration Manager (SCCM), Data Protection Manager (DPM), Endpoint Protection, Operations Manager (SCOM), Orchestrator (previously named ""Opalis""), Service Manager (SCCM), and System Center Advisor (see module 7 for VMM-specific topics).
